06/14/2018Job SummaryThe Financial Analyst, under the supervision of the Controller, monitors and maintains approved program budgets.
Analyzes and communicates variances to program managers and directors, and provides other general budget support.
Provides support for accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions of the Tribe's Accounting department as needed.
Essential Functions Leads program managers in financial matters with focus on best practice and added value services contract management, benchmarking, variance analysis, and forecasting.
Assist in grant reporting and compliance.
Prepares financial feasibility studies for expanded services, contracts and fixed asset purchases.
Analyze operational systems, prepares recommendations, performs outreach and updates policy as needed.
Analyze monthly financial data to communicate to program managers and directors' potential risks and opportunities.
Admin systems analyst support for accounting software, manager reporter software and department Intranet, assists with department requisitions.
Perform annual physical inventory of fixed assets and maintain schedule for monthly depreciation entries.
Responsible for timely and accurate submission of month end adjustments and entries for budget and journal.
Works with the Finance Director to execute and communicate Council initiatives to relevant staff.
Prepares sufficient documentation and narratives for yearly annual budget in timely fashion to the Finance Director.
Assist and coordinate annual commercial insurance process.
Communicates with external sources to provide and receive financial analytics, including financial oversight of PL93-638 compact funding sources.
Maintain professional and technical acumen through attending workshops and reviewing publications.
Protect operations by keeping information and planning confidential, only distributing to relevant parties.

As needed for training and meetingsQualificationsEducationBachelor degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree.
Experience Experienced with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Two years progressive experience in accounting capacity.
License/CertificationValid Alaska Driver license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy.
Special Skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

Ability to multi-task and work independently.
Preferred Experience with Microsoft Great Plains applications.
Grant financial management.
Prior healthcare finance experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
