Regional Community Engagement Advisor - Kenai or Nikiski, Alaska

Our Client's LNG project has an open position for a Regional Community Engagement Advisor for Kenai, Nikiski and the surrounding areas. Only residents of Nikiski/Kenai and the immediate surrounding area (within 60 miles driving distance of Kenai) will be given consideration for this assignment as Candidates will need to be available routinely for local community member contact and other tasks in the Nikiski/Kenai area.
Main Functions:
Manage Kenai regional stakeholder engagement effort and socioeconomic management activities for a natural gas development project in Alaska under the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
With direction from project management, represent project during public meetings, agency meetings, and other external venues as required and authorized by project management
Provide regional and strategic regulatory planning input related to socioeconomics
Serve as a regional subject matter expert on stakeholder engagement and socioeconomic-related issues as part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance
Support ongoing development from a regional perspective of stakeholder engagement management plans
Project point of contact for community and regulatory affairs matters in Kenai
Coordinate community engagement for the project in the Kenai area
Functions and
Responsibilities:
Location of assignment: Nikiski/Kenai. Should be available routinely for local community member contact and other tasks in the Nikiski/Kenai area
Provide local support to Alaska LNG's Environmental, Regulatory and Lands (ERL) Team as requested
Manage local interfaces with individuals, groups, and organizations; including but not limited to community council and borough assembly meetings, individuals and organizations; and document any concern/mention of the Project
Manage interfaces among the various disciplines responsible for progressing action items
Highlight socioeconomic management issues and recommendations to the Socioeconomic team on a real-time basis
Steward Socioeconomic activities required by NEPA and/or other relevant federal and state regulations including the general public and specifically Alaska Native consultations
Develop a regional, yearly stakeholder engagement plan/strategy
Coordinate with local area First Responders regarding LNG facility siting, security, emergency response, etc. as requested
Support interface with Public and Government Affairs about messaging and local issues
Attend and assist with setup of Project meetings, etc., in Nikiski and surrounding areas
Attend training and professional development in Anchorage as requested
Requirements:
One (1) year commitment; Home-based role, part-time for 20 to 30 hours/week including some evenings
Must be willing to accept compensation within the range of $500.00 - $750.00 per Day based upon relevant experience
A Confidentiality Agreement must be signed upon approval for this assignment
Qualifications and
Experience:
University degree or years of experience equivalent
Resident of Kenai, Nikiski or surrounding region and familiar with the lifestyles/cultures/residents
Broad-based experience in oil and gas industry for 15
years
Experience interacting with a variety of external entities as part of the project consultation process, including Alaska Native groups, regional and municipal leaders and government agencies
Must possess good oral and written communications skills and be detail oriented
